MTK Minor Midget Win the Canadian Tire Classic "A" Tournament in Barrie

With a good start defeating the home team Barrie Colts 3-2 on Friday evening, they faced some adversity on Saturday morning, suffering a 5-1 loss in game 2 against the Stratford Warriors AA team.  Without looking back, the boys bounced back hard without allowing a single goal in the remaining round robin games defeating the Whitby Wildcats 2-0 and tieing the Quinte West Hawks 0-0.   With a 4-1 win  against Halton Hills Thunder in the semi-final game, the boys were positioned for a rematch against the Whitby Wildcats for the championship.

The championship game, which MTK won 1-0 in double overtime, is best described by the head coach of the Whitby Wildcats Minor Midget A team who sent the following note:

"... I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate your Minor Midget Thunder Kings on their tournament win in Barrie this past weekend. It was a terrific hard fought game. I would like to compliment your players coaching staff and parents on how they conducted themselves throughout the game. The team is deserving champions. Best of luck Mr Mills to your team this year."
