MTK COVID Protocols as of December 17, 2021

MTK COVID Protocols as of December 17, 2021

With the current rise in COVID-19 cases, the Ottawa B-League has asked their respective associations to do the following.

If you have a player on your team isolating and awaiting test results, the respective team is not to participate in any league games until the results have returned negative.   Please reach out to us and we will work with all parties required to rebook the game.  Work with your managers as they should be aware of all players getting tests.

Also, note that at this time MTK is pausing all affiliations in order to avoid any possible spread amongst teams.

We would like to remind families to follow the constantly updating Federal testing and quarantine requirements upon return from any international travel. The most recent change is as of December 15. This includes not attending anything hockey related for the 14 days following a return from international travel for individuals advised to quarantine. While unvaccinated children under the age of 12 who have travelled internationally with a fully vaccinated companion are exempt from federal quarantine, they to are not permitted to attend any hockey related activity for 14 days following their return. Please refer to the link for more information.

PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES
We would also like to remind everyone of the importance of continuing to follow public health measures that have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus. These measures are especially important for those who are not yet fully vaccinated, and are applicable at all times:
 Pre-game:
  • Arrive no more than 30 minutes before your ice time (including for games).
  • All teams must have their safety officer at the door verifying vaccination of spectators
  • Make sure masks are worn at all times.
In the dressing room:
  • Don’t leave the dressing room until the ice is ready.  Please ensure that you have shared these rink guidelines with the opposing team.  No teams should be lined up along the boards while the Zamboni is on the ice.
  • Try to maintain distance from other players where possible.
  • Keep volunteers to a minimum to avoid over-crowding.
  • Masks must be kept on in the dressing room until you are ready to put your helmet on.
On the ice:
  • Coaches and team staff are to wear masks at all times.
  • Don’t share water bottles.

Post-game
  • Leave quickly, don’t linger in the facilities.
  • Please follow the signs and exit and enter through the appropriate entrances.

In general:
  • Don’t come to hockey if you aren’t feeling well or have any symptoms, or if you have been told to self-isolate!
Rest assured, putting these measures in place was not a decision we took lightly, and it was decided with the safety of our players and their families in mind. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in our community and adjust our course of action accordingly as information and guidance evolves.

Additionally, we would like to stress that families must make the choices that are best for them. No player will be penalized for missing or opting out of any practice or game.

Our main goal is to ensure all players can enjoy a healthy and safe holiday season. We believe that by making these minor adjustments now, we have a better chance of being able to continue our regular season in the new year.
